Are you like a frog in boiling? [Jobs]

In a recent article I talked about the rat race and why you should get out of there if you are not satisfied with your job. There are plenty of possible paths to success, the wage labour among them.  Indeed, after you graduate you start jumping in the labor market.  You’re not financially independent and it’s time to earn a living with a full-time job if you’re lucky enough.

Over time and if you spend your money wisely, your bank account will start loving you.  Let’s say you reached the symbolic $10 000 threshold.  With that money you can feel more secure.  You stop worrying at the end of the month for paying your rent.  You feel more relaxed for changing job and to find your own path in life.  You can start investing a part of that money in projects that will benefit from the leverage effect.  Or you wait a bit longer before investing in real estate.

Unfortunately, being an employee can be a trap on the long run.  Indeed, when you first join a company, you’re still malleable and full of energy.  But time flies and the years do not come back.  As I was told by a contractor, after some years you get a permanent “brain damage”.  You forget anything that seemed strange to you when you joined your company.  All these crazy people and useless things you did are normal now.  Without realizing it, you became a member of this asylum.  You are one of them!

Good luck for getting out of your new comfort zone. Especially if you have a mortgage, kids and a nice car.  In many cases your revenues will also be limited when being an employee.  Don’t be trap like a frog we boil.

If you have a rather entrepreneurial spirit with plenty of startup ideas, you will notice that your full-time job will literally suck your energy and the longer you stay in the system, the less likely you will change your situation.

After a few years your employer knows that it will be difficult for you to leave the company.  You will accept the terms, the social plans and change in wage policy.  Unless you have had the courage to leave before and get more experience.  This is what I recommend you.  One day you will finally find your way in this competitive World.

Stay mentally strong and keep dreaming about your future.  Then set clear goals and work very hard to meet them.  Understand that big life projects take time to achieve.

Diversify your sources of income outside of your job to have more financial power and therefore keep your independent mindset.  Start your own business.  Maybe one day you will be an annuitant..who knows?

Think of the person you will be in a few decades.  It would be better to see admiration in the eyes of this person.

Finally, remember that in life you often don’t get what you deserve but you get what you ask for and what you tolerate.
