Make people’s dreams come true on your Airbnb page
Congrats, you decided to take the plunge! You will soon be a wonderful host on Airbnb.
You are about to write the first sentence of your teaser text hoping it will attract many tourists.
Unfortunately, your page remains desperately empty like the black void of space. Poor you!
Just relax, I will guide you to success đŸ˜‰
First of all, keep in mind that people will book your place for two main reasons: it’s cheaper than other accommodations on the market, and it offers them a unique experience they won’t probably find elsewhere. People like to get into the daily life of a resident in the country they want to visit while feeling at home. Your advert will adapt to these wishes.
Let me introduce you the different sections of your Airbnb page advertising your housing.
Title
The title is a concise summary of the housing you offer on Airbnb. Be honest so you will not get any angry feedbacks from your guests on your public profile afterwards. I recommend you to create emotions to the visitors of your page. They should feel or imagine their stay in your place. Depending on your housing, you may think of using words like “cozy”, “warm”, “bright”, “charming”, “stylish”, “lovely”or any other term that could create an emotion. Humans are emotional beings so they will react instinctively to your words.
You may use only a limited number of characters for your title so you have think twice before finding the perfect combination of words. I advice you to show also the name of the neighborhood if it is quite famous or the name of your city otherwise. The number of rooms and the size of your housing are already used in the search filter of Airbnb when guests look for your place so it is not mandatory to include these information in your title.
Keep it simple and engaging
Summary
In your summary you can use more sentences but there is still a limitation on the number of characters you can use so your text stay concise. Here you will describe your apartment with energy, emphasizing the benefits the guests will get if they choose your place instead of the competition.
Then we move to the descriptive part of your ad. You can list the interesting parts of your flat. If your bedroom is spacious or cozy and it has a comfortable king size bed, mentions it. It is really important to list the number of beds, their type (single bed? double sofa bed? king size bed?) and their place.
People like to stay near the city center so mention the transportation means close to your apartment as well as the interesting places nearby.
Detailed description
Describe in details your home with the following sections :
- The Space
- Guest Access
- Interaction with Guests
- Other remarks
- The neighborhood (“Overview” and “Transports”)
Fill in the sections combining qualitative and quantitative aspects with “emotional” keywords as I explained you before. In “Guest Access” say if your guest will have full access to your apartment or not (guest room). In “Interaction with Guests”, show that you are a good person willing to help them and insist on how beautiful is your city. In “Transports”, refer to all the transportation means that could be used by your guests. A nearby airport is a big plus.
Other sections
You have also to fill other sections that are more descriptive, like :
- the address (the detailed information are only visible to your guests after booking),
- the amenities
- the safety sheet (explain to your guests where to find an emergency exit, a fire extinguisher, the gas pipe,…)
You can even create a guide for your guests as if you are a travel agency.
Photos
The photos are very important. Use a digital SLR preferably with a quality lens offering a wide field of view.
Show a dozen images of your housing and include some pictures of great historical monuments or attractions nearby.
In many countries you can ask Airbnb to send a photographer for free so you will get beautiful authenticated pictures your future guests will love.
Photos must show the reality if you don’t want to get angry comments on your public profile! Reputation is key on Airbnb.
Well, that’s all for today!
And you, do you have any suggestions you want to share with us?
